This means that there is a nice and pleasant climate in the city.

On a trip to Nairobi you can experience Karen Blixen’s farm. Karen Blixen, the Danish, acclaimed and much admired author and poet, lived in Kenya for several years. Today, her house has been turned into a museum. Still, it is definitely worth a visit. From swamp area to cosmopolitan

But Nairobi has not always been a modern cosmopolitan. Nairobi was established in 1899. The city arose during the construction of a railway. At that time, the city was just a swamp area. Therefore, Nairobi was named after a watering hole that the locals called Enkare Nairobi. The name Nairobi itself therefore means “cold water”.

Moreover, Nairbobi has not always been the capital of Kenya. To begin with, it was the capital of British East Africa. After Kenya’s independence in 1963, Nairobi became the capital of Kenya. Today, the city houses hundreds of international companies and more than 1,000 companies from Kenya. It can make it quite difficult to understand when visiting the city that it was once just a swamp.

The capital of Kenya

Mombasa

According to zipcodesexplorer, Mombasa is Kenya’s second largest city and is home to approx. 1.2 million inhabitants of Mombasa city. In addition, Mombasa is the largest port city in Kenya and also the only port city that has a very important significance. Mombasa was founded back in the 1000s by some Arab merchants. The name Mombasa also derives from the Arabic name “Manbasa” which means “Island of War”.

Since then and throughout history, Mombasa has been controlled by many. Among other things, by residents with Arabic, Indian and Spanish backgrounds. The reason for this is the city’s very strategic location for trade, as the city is adjacent to the Indian Ocean. Today, Mombasa belongs to the country Kenya. However, it was not until 1963 that Mombasa became part of Kenya. Until then, the city was part of Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Blue sea and white sandy beaches

Mombasa is located next to the Indian Ocean and on Mombasa Island, which is actually separated from the mainland by two rivers. Mombasa’s fantastic location has not only had an impact on trade of the city’s important importance as a port city. It is also a coastal town located on the east coast of Kenya.

Therefore, you can experience some absolutely amazing bathing beaches at Mombasa. White beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see and coconut palms that wave in the light breeze that comes out of the Indian Ocean. The beautiful blue sea, which provides an absolutely fantastic opportunity for snorkeling. The sun and the beautiful temperatures, where the average temperature is 30 degrees. The perfect place to just relax and enjoy life.
