History of Allardt, Tennessee

According to allcitycodes, Allardt, Tennessee is a small town located in Fentress County that was established in 1812. It was named after the Allardt family who had moved to the area from North Carolina in the late 1700s. The Allardts were a farming family and it wasn’t long before they began to build up the area. By the mid-1800s, Allardt had become a bustling community with several businesses, including a general store and post office.

The town continued to grow through the late 1800s and early 1900s as more people moved to the area for work. The railroad also provided transportation for goods and people which allowed Allardt to become an important stop on the line. In addition, several churches were built in town which helped create a strong sense of community amongst its residents.

Allardt was hit hard by two devastating fires during this time period: one in 1895 which destroyed much of the downtown area, and another in 1911 which wiped out most of the homes on Main Street. Despite these setbacks, however, Allardt managed to rebuild and continued to thrive over time. Today, it is known for its small-town charm with many historic buildings still standing as reminders of its past.
